The New Mr October

So if your a baseball fan you have obviously been watching the World Series. The NY Yankee's vs the Philadelphia Phillie's, a match up between two power houses. Speaking of power houses, have you taken a look at the new Mr October? Back in the 80's their was a player that went by the name of Reggie Jackson a Yankee legend who had hit five home runs in the World Series. Well hello history! Currently, Chase Utley, second baseman for the Phillies has hit five home runs in five games and has a chance to break the record in game six or even seven. Chase Utley hasn't really been known as a slugger in the world of baseball but he has been tearing it up in the postseason. Even though Chase Utley is having a great year in baseball, I highly doubt that he will be remembered for this accomplishment in the same way Reggie Jackson was because of one key reason. When Reggie Jackson was playing in the world series, There was a streak of violent crimes going around NY that had people terrified. The Son of Sam was a serial killer that had people afraid to go outside their own house. The people at that moment needed somebody to take their minds off the killings and used Reggie Jackson as the escape away from the fear. Instances like that make history easy to remember and unfortunately, Chase Utley wont have the same recognition as the great Reggie Jackson. Hopefully i am wrong, but only time will tell.

I think you're right. I doubt anyone will remember Chase Utley that same way. Partly because of what you mentioned, and partly because unlike Reggie Jackson, Utley has only really torn the postseason apart this last year. I totally forgot about that Son of Sam thing tho too. Funny how people remember things that way.

Chase Utley is a great player and I have to say, he just demolished the Yankees pitchers in the World Series. I agree that people will probably not remember Chase Utley in the same way they remember Reggie Jackson, however it depends on who we are talking about. Since the Yankees won the Series I doubt many Yankees fans will even recall the great performance Utley had. However, Phillies fans will remember the Mr. October performance from Utley for years to come.

This was a well researched article. I liked reading it and it kept my attention while learning something new. I think Chase Utley played amazing in the World Series and to have that many home runs in a post season is incredible. But, I do think you are right and he will not be remembered like Reggie Jackson. He would have been way more popular of course if they had won but maybe next year!
